Karine Levesque, MSW, RSW

Karine has been a registered social worker with the NB Association of Social Workers (NBASW) since 1996. She has been very involved in the social work profession since the beginning of her career, at the regional, provincial, national and international levels. Since 1996, she has remained active in her regional chapter and held various local positions, as well as participating in several committees at various levels. To date, she has held several positions on the NBATT Board of Directors, including President, Vice-President, member and Chair of the NBATT Discipline Committee, Director of the Edmundston and Grand Falls Chapter, and is completing her first term as Secretary of the Board. She has also served as NBASW Director on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Association of Social Workers, and has just completed a 4-year term as Secretary of the International Board of Directors of the Association of Social Work Boards- ASWB. Working in the community is at the heart of her passions; her career path began in clinical care with the Grand Falls and Edmundston Mental Health Centres, in Social Development and finally as part of the Grand Falls Extra Mural Program team, which marks the major part of her career. Since 2021, Karine has held a position as a home health care consultant with the New Brunswick Department of Health in Fredericton, for the governance of the NB Extra-Mural Program. Karine continues to propagate and validate the notions specific to her profession of social work in her work with the community and health partners with whom she allies herself, but also in her everyday life; she is very proud of her profession and her involvement in making it a coveted, regulated and respected profession.
