Brittany Bruce, B.H.Sc, MSW, RSW - Crisis Response Social Worker

Brittany Bruce is a passionate social worker with over a decade of experience in Health and Social Services. As the eldest daughter of a dual-serving veteran couple and the partner of a currently serving military member, Brittany's upbringing and life experiences have allowed her to live, work, and thrive across Canada and overseas. For the past three years, she has resided in the Yellowknife Region, where she works full-time with the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) as the Territorial Lead for Community-Based Mental Health. Her portfolio includes counselling, family violence services, and accreditation. In addition to her full-time role, she operates a small private practice, primarily offering clinical counselling to military families and members living with Operational Stress Injuries. Brittany’s professional practice encompasses community organizing, clinical practice, community-based mental health, research, and outreach. She is particularly passionate about advancing northern social work practice. In her role with the NTHSSA, she provides education and capacity-building training to frontline social workers and health professionals across the territory. Alongside these training initiatives, Brittany is often deployed for territorial crisis responses, working closely with social workers in various regions of the Northwest Territories. Brittany holds a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Addictions Counselling from the University of Lethbridge (2016) and a Master of Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University (2021). Her academic background offers a unique perspective on social work practice and underscores the importance of expanding capacity in northern communities. Having lived in remote northern communities and witnessed the impact of social workers firsthand, Brittany takes immense pride in her profession. She is deeply committed to the recruitment, retention, and development of social workers in the territories.
